Prom Night...Oh What a Night!

Where does the time go?

Sometimes I wish we could just bottle it up and keep it for a while...just til we're really ready to let go. I guess that would be "Time in a Bottle", now wouldn't it? I guess I'm not the first nor the last to wish for this.
I know I sure can't be the only one feeling this way. I know some of you Mom's out there must feel the same. Such a joyous occasion, and yet, so bittersweet. My son, my baby, the last one.....Prom Night, and soon on his way into adulthood. It's scary for me. Is he ready? Am I ready? Is this "pre"- empty nest syndrome that I'm feeling?
He's my last. His 2 sisters have gone before him, and I don't recall feeling so blue while feeling so darn proud! Maybe it has more to do w/ age and my being a different Mom now then I was then. Maybe the fact that I'm now well into my 40's and an emotional, hormonal basket case! Crying at everything, crying while I type this. Maybe that sometimes we just get too busy w/ life, and before you know it, our babies are all grown up, and it seems as if it happened overnight.

Anyway....enough w/ that. I'm so proud of my Son, and I wanted to share some pics from his Senior Prom last Friday.
All is well, and all are home safe, and now all that's left are the pictures and the memories....memories they will carry w/ them hopefully their entire lives.

I knew Steve's Prom date was going to look pretty, but when he drove up w/ her......"Stunning" was what came to mind. Bridget was elegant, and she and my Son made a most handsome couple! And yes......of course, I cried. I was overwhelmed when I saw how grown up these two looked.
Steve made sure to get a swatch from her dress before ordering his Tux. His vest and tie matched her gorgeous pale rose colored dress perfectly!
I wish I had gotten a close up of her beautiful corsage.....it was comprised of the most lovely orchids, and the ribbon matched perfectly. Truly a beautiful corsage to compliment a beautiful young lady.
What a day it was...HOT and of course humid as well, oh and did I mention gusty winds right around the time to take pics? It was 93 degrees, and the poor girls, their hair was blowing everywhere.
Steve and his friend Brian have been friends since the 5th grade (that's his Mom's red sleeve that keeps getting in my pics). Brian was always the class clown, and my son has always loved to laugh, and has been drawn to the funniest of people.
They've played recreational summer baseball on the same team since then, and are this year as well.
I was surprised at how many of the guys opted for the white Tux's, but they sure were nice!

Anyway.....even though I sometimes feel sad when I think of the last of my 3 children making that transition into adulthood, all and all, what a wonderful time, and I am thrilled to be able to be here to see my son enjoy one of the great milestones of life!
I take nothing for granted, and I do realize how lucky and blessed we are to be able to share these moments.
Thanks for letting me share them w/ you.
This week is his commencement ceremony, and I'll be back to share that as well.

Awww Patty! Your Son is so very Handsome & his date is Gorgeous! I know the feeling you speak of well, even though my own Sons have been married for years, I still remember they way your heart aches with so much pride. I cried every time mine ran out onto a football field, at prom time, at their graduation (Be sure to wear water proof mascera & take lot's of pictures..that helps with the crying! LOL) Can't wait to see Stevie's graduation pics, dear friend. Hang in there...it gets better with...Grandchildren...Like your adorable Zoey Bug! Hugs, Starla :)

Oh My Patty what a fantastic looking group...It has been so long since any of mine went to prom. The last one went as a scuba diver and his date was a mermaid. I really miss the traditional Prom's. Good lookin' boy there Patty....Thanks for sharing! Pam

Such wonderful pictures Patty. I am sure you all made some memories that will last a lifetime.

I have yet to go through all of that stuff...

And I am not looking forward to it. I will probably cry as well.

Thanks for sharing such a precious moment.
